Afghan Hound

Afghan Hounds are known for their long gownlike silky coats, but all that hair hides a lithe and athletic body. They are a basal breed, which is a lineage so old it predates modern breeds. As sight hounds they were originally utilized for hunting small game although nowadays those skills are mostly applied to lure coursing. They are aloof and elegant dogs as at home on a rich velvet couch as they are on the move.
