Akita

The Akita is a historic breed from the mountains of Japan. They were used as guard dogs because they are a hardy breed with a thick double-layered coat. They're aloof with strangers, but very affectionate with family and loyal to their house. In 1931 the Akita Inu was declared a national treasure in Japan.
