The Anatolian Shepherd is known as the "livestock guardian." They are of Turkish origin, and are loyal, territorial, and invaluable to their owners who still use them for herding and guarding as their ancestors did! As pets, they are large high-energy, and friendly.
The Kangal Shepherd Dog looks very similar to a fawn colored Anatolian and shares the Anatolian's size and skill. It is one of the oldest breeds in the world and still regularly used for guarding the homes and their owners' herds of cattle.
