Basset Hound

Basset hounds may be known as droopy dogs, but they are excellent scent hounds. Their long ears actually work to waft scents toward their faces. They were originally bred for tracking hare. The name Basset utilizes the French word "Bas" meaning low. These low hounds are friendly but known to be stubborn.
