British Shorthair

The British Shorthair is the pedigree version of the popular short-haired housecat. They're known for their stocky body and broad faces. Legend has it that the British Shorthair was the inspiration for John Tenniel's illustration of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. The Cat Fanciers' Association description for the British Shorthair even says "When gracelessness is observed, the British Shorthair is duly embarrassed, quickly recovering with a 'Cheshire cat smile'."
