Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
The Cavalier King Charles spaniel and the King Charles Cavalier spaniel are actually two different spaniels. They began as one, but the Cavalier King Charles has a longer nose after breeders in the 20th century made a joint effort to return the breed back to its origins. Before this, Cavs in the 17th century were interbred with pugs in order to shorten their noses. The King Charles in the name is Charles II of England whose supporters called themselves Cavaliers.
