Chow Chow

The Chow Chow is a Basal Breed, meaning it existed before modern breed recording practices. They are a very old breed of dog originating from northern China. They have a double layer coat and a signature bluish tongue. This blue color extends to their lips and their oral cavities. While other dogs can have black or spotted tongues, Chow Chows are the only dogs known to have this odd bluish mouth coloration.
