Dogo Argentino
This Argentinian dog was bred in the 1940s by brothers Antonio and Augustin Nores Martinez. It was created specifically to hunt large game like boars, peccaries, and pumas! It is a combination of mastiff and bulldog-type dogs, but over time and curation the genes have grown to include everything from Pyrenean Shepherds to Irish Wolfhounds. A breed standard was determined in 1948, requiring the Dogo as to have white coats and a stocky, athletic build.
