German Spitz

The German Spitz is a European breed that dates back to the 1400s AD. They are guarding and herding dogs with a long double-layer coat. The German Spitz can be many colors and many sizes, although many of the broader varieties are referred to as other related breeds. Examples include the Keeshond which is a larger version and the Pomeranian which is the smallest version. There are a wide variety of European Spitz-type dogs but the German Spitz is the progenitor of all the rest!
