Irish Wolfhound
The Irish Wolfhound is a gentle giant. The largest of the hounds, male Irish Wolfhounds are known to stand 3 feet at the shoulder and weigh upwards of 180lbs. This is a very old breed, used in Ireland before the arrival of the Romans around 400BC. They are named not because they look like wolves, but because they HUNTED wolves! These fast, powerful friends will both take down large game and lay on your lap, although they will generally be more successful at one than the other!
