Nebelung

These Russian Cats are often referred to as a long-haired version of the famous Russian Blue. While the two breeds are related, it is not quite accurate on a genetic level. There is a Russian line of the breed that comes from Russian origins, but the breed currently showing in the US was cultivated out of a Black Shorthair cat and a Blue Longhair cat, creating a steel colored cat with a mid-length coat. The name comes from the German word Nibelung meaning "Creature of the Mist."
