Norwegian Forest Cat

The Norwegian Forest cat is a very large, very fluffy feline that is well adapted to the cold climates where they are most popular. History suggests its ancestors sailed with the Vikings, and share a similar long-haired genetic history with modern-day Persians and Turkish Angoras. The breed was near extinction after WWII but was resurrected through dedicated breeding by the Norwegian Forest Cat Club and entered into the FIFe cat registry in 1970.
