Poodles are one of the most famous and recognizable breeds in the world. They're synonymous with French high society, but theory has it that they were actually bred in Germany as water dogs. They are known for their thick, curly, hair-like coat that is famous for shedding less than furrier coats. This has led to a lot of cross-breeding to cultivate this coat as hypo-allergenic. The smallest is the Toy Poodle was created in the 20th century in an effort to make a small-sized companion pet.
