The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a unique and powerful dog. It was bred in Africa by crossing european hunting dogs including sight and scent hounds with African ridged KhoiKhoi dogs. The native blood made these dogs more resistant to the local pests and illnesses. As a result, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is a powerful dog and relentless hunter, but also a loyal family dog with an affection for children. The first official American breeder of Rhodesian Ridgebacks was none other than Hollywood actor Errol Flynn!
