Shiba Inu

The Shiba Inu is a basal breed, one of the longest existing breeds in the world. It is one of six Japanese native dog breeds and was used as a hunting dog for centuries. Despite it's long history, it wasn't brought to the United States until the 1970s and not registered in the AKC until 1992 where it was added to the non-sporting group.
