Sloughi

The Sloughi is one of the ancient breeds of the world. Bred in North Africa, these Arabian Greyhounds are likely closely related to the Saluki, another slender sighthound from the area. Sighthounds such these have been portrayed on Egyptian Heiroglyphics and even Neolithic cave paintings! Nowadays, the Sloughi continues to help hunters in the field and also serve as a guard dog for the home. Sloughis joined the FCI in 1998 but only joined the AKC in 2016, making it one of the more recent additions to the hound group despite its ancient lineage.
