Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a multi-national dog with many places in Europe playing a part in its origin. It was developed by a man named Eduard Karel Korthals, who was Dutch, but came out of the Ipenwoud Kennel in Germany, and officially recognized as a registered breed in France. The US Kennel clubs call it the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon but it is still known as the Korthals Griffon in Europe and the Griffon d'arrêt à poil dur Korthals in France and Quebec. No matter where this breed roams or what it may be called, it is a strong and versatile gun dog with devotion to its task as well as its family.
